Parafield Airport Master Plan (2017)

EXTENSION OF PARAFIELD AIRPORT MASTER PLAN TO 18 JUNE 2024:

Parafield Airport Limited’s (PAL’s) Master Plan was approved by the Federal Minster for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development on 19 January 2018, with the next Master Plan required to be submitted to the Commonwealth Minister by 19 January 2023.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an extraordinary impact on the aviation and flight training industry resulting in Air traffic movements (ATM’s) continuing on a downward trend.

With the impact of international caps and the ongoing uncertainty and volatility regarding COVID, it is extremely difficult to forecast Parafield Airport activities with any level of certainty.

Given this level of uncertainty, PAL sought an extension of time to submit the next Master Plan to ensure that amongst other forecasts, Australian Noise Exposure Forecasts can be provided, which have some reasonable substantiation behind them to provide greater clarity for all stakeholders and the community.

On 8 September 2021, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development granted approval for an extension of 18 months, with the next draft Master Plan to be submitted by 18 June 2024.
